Michael has over 15 years experience in the data communications industry in a variety of roles including pre-sales, support and consultancy.

For the past seven years Michael has operated mainly as a consultant providing technology advice and solutions to corporate customers to effect business outcomes. Michael has a broad knowledge of networking principles/architecture and security with practical experience in corporate and service provider environments.

Recently Michael has focussed on networking infrastructure with an accent on security. Recent projects have included the design and implementation of a Cisco based VoIP solution (300+ handsets), several e-commerce environments for major corporate clients, and secure hosting environments for financial institutions.

Recent Experience Overview
 
  • Network Architect: Responsible for the design and day to day operation of a large NZ Utility. Projects included under this role include; Migration from Telecom Frame Relay and Private data circuits to Telecom One Office, Implementation of BGP across the enterprise, design and roll out of new standard enterprise architecture.

  • Technical Lead: Responsible for a team of consultants that designed and developed the migration of a VoIP solution for a large NZ retailer. The project involved the development of standard builds, migration plans and the production of detailed onsite implementation documentation.

  • Team Lead: Responsible for a small team of technical consultants developing VoIP products within a Large NZ Telecommunications provider. Products were based on Cisco Call Manager and Zeacom desktop applications. The team was recognised as the VoIP technology experts within the organization and as such were call upon to also provide network/security technology advice and design for the corporate.

  • Technical Consultant: Provided architecture expertise and pre-sales support for a NZ based Managed Security Provider. Tasks undertaken include Proof of Concept Testing, Customer Transitions, Development and evaluation of network monitoring tools.

  • Technical Consultant: Design and implementation of a high availability E-Commerce network infrastructure. Solution included Checkpoint, Stonebeat, Cisco Content switches. The client required a highly available secure environment from which to deliver SAP applications/services.

  • Technical Consultant: NZRebuild and implementation of a high availability E-Commerce network infrastructure for an NZ based Global corporation. Solution included Checkpoint, Cisco Content switches. The existing solution had become cumbersome and overly complicated to the point where the business could not reliably deploy applications.

 Greg Harbers

Greg has over 22 years in the NZ IT industry in spanning various roles from IT support to Project Management. His primary technology focus has been Windows desktop and server management, however he has a good understanding and working knowledge of a wide range of systems, applications and IT security.

Greg has recently completed a project working for a large NZ Telco managing the implementation of an additional Point of Presence (PoP) for their Managed Security Services Provider. 

Previously Greg worked briefly for Telecom NZ as a Service Line Manager in their Network Delivered Services division. Prior to that, Greg worked with Sytec Resources engaging with clients in design, audit and technical project management roles.

Recent Experience Overview
  • Technical Project Management: Design and project management of a new Point of Presence for a Managed Security Services provider. This project, based in Auckland, included the establishment of new data centres, secure ATM and Layer 2 Ethernet wide-area networks, the creation of a private MPLS network cloud with multiple (BGP4) Internet connections and a considerable security infrastructure. The Infrastructure included Cisco network products, Checkpoint firewalls, RedHat Enterprise Linux and Juniper SSL VPN devices.

  • Technical Consultant: Design and implementation of a new VMware virtual infrastructure including Windows Server 2003, Citrix Presentation Server, Dell Poweredge server hardware and EMC Storage Area Network (SAN)

  • Project Manager: Have managed several projects for customer relocations, extending from the planning and design, to the final data centre, network, and end user moves.

  • Project Manager: Managed Desktops. Have managed several managed desktop rollouts to customers, the largest of which was in the order of 500 desktops.

  • Technical Consultant: Standard Desktops. Designed and build a standardized Windows desktop that was eventually deployed on over 6000 machines. This included the design and creation of an automated application distribution system without the use of commercial products.

Clinton’s primary technology focus is network security, where his in-depth knowledge is based on solid implementation experience and supported by certification from market leading vendors including Cisco Systems and Checkpoint. His broad range of experience with other technologies extends to Microsoft infrastructure and application projects, including system hardening, Internet application security, secure wireless networking and mobility.

Clinton has recently completed a project working for a large international bank in Japan, where his role as Solution Architect saw him design and manage the implementation of the bank’s network and security systems. 

Previously Clinton was based in the UK, where he worked for 4 years with Hewlett Packard in their Professional Services division. In New Zealand, Clinton worked with Sytec Resources engaging with clients in design, audit and technical project management roles.

Recent Experience Overview
  • Solutions Architect: Consultancy, design and implementation of an IP-based Network & Security infrastructure for a major New Zealand financial transaction processing company.  This project was built on the requirement to enable migration from an X.25 based communications infrastructure to one based on TCP/IP.  The solution was designed for high-availability, security and performance, and included the deployment of infrastructure to multiple data-centres, with test and production environments.  Network and security systems from Cisco, Checkpoint and ISS were used along with application networking solutions from F5 Networks.  Ongoing consultancy was also provided to assist in the deployment of enterprise network management systems, and operational improvements.

  • Network Design: High level architecture and network design for a global manufacturer, with a large distribution business in New Zealand.  Following on from a network review engagement, the project delivered an architecture blueprint, with network design options and infrastructure costing for budgetary purposes.

  • Solutions Architect: Design and project management of the implementation of a new IT infrastructure for a large international bank. This project, based in Japan, included multiple data centres, secure Gigabit wide-area networks, multiple (BGP4) Internet connections and a considerable security infrastructure. The Infrastructure included Cisco network and security products, Checkpoint firewalls, ISS IPS appliances, F5 application load balancers, Windows Server 2003 R2, RedHat Enterprise Linux and IBM AIX servers and an EMC SAN.

  • Technical Consultant: Design and implementation of a new VMware virtual infrastructure including Windows Server 2003 R2, Exchange 2003 and IBM xSeries hardware. (NZ)

  • Security Consultant: A UK local government client, requiring a full refresh of its Microsoft-based infrastructure including 100+ servers, 4500 end users, Cisco iSCSI SAN and Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Security design and implementation lead, deploying a new corporate Internet infrastructure, PKI with smartcard logon, securing Microsoft (Windows XP + Server 2003, Exchange 2003, SQL Server, MOM) solutions and Cisco LAN and SAN network.

  • Security Consultant: Network security design and implementation for a large client in the UK financial services industry. Multi-layer firewalls from Cisco and Checkpoint, deployed in highly available clusters across multiple data centres and a DR site. Gigabit Ethernet encrypted wide area network links, deployed in a resilient configuration between sites in the UK and France.

Mike is an experienced network design professional, having worked for over 12 years across a range of environments.

Mike is a logical and analytical thinker who enjoys problem solving, and has a proven track record in both leadership and mentoring roles.

Mike has experience with many technologies and platforms such as Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers, Juniper Netscreen firewalls, F5 load balancers, 3Com routers and switches, Checkpoint firewalls, Network analysis tools, including packet capture, and Network management software.

Recent Experience Overview
  • Technical Consultant: Mike was responsible for the delivery of a project that created an Internet based Point of Presence for a New Zealand financial institution for the delivery of financial transactions. The solution required the integration of multiple Internet providers and involved a wide range of technologies including Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, IPS and management tools.

  • Technical Consultant: As a senior team member Mike was responsible for the delivery of a project that created a secure IP Gateway infrastructure for a New Zealand financial institution. The solution required points of presence across multiple data centres and involved a wide range of technologies including Cisco, Checkpoint, F5, IPS and management tools.

  • Senior Technical Designer: Mike was a senior member of the team responsible for network, voice and design across all of Telecom’s internal network environments. In this role he was responsible for delivering high quality designs to ensure that Telecom’s various network environments meet the diverse requirements of the business. The job required a mix of technical, business, leadership, communication and negotiation skills to be successful in this large, complicated and challenging environment. The senior designers were often called upon to make decisions with no clear correct answer or based on limited information. This role has exposure to a wide range of vendor equipment including Cisco, Netscreen, Checkpoint and F5.

  • Network Designer: Mike was a member of the network design and operations team for Barclays Capital - a large global trading bank with the head office based in London. In this role he was responsible for delivering designs that met business requirements while ensuring high availability and performance of the internal global data network. Mike resolved operational issues and was involved with crisis management, in particular the loss of the NY office during the events of Sept 11th 2001.

Michelle has over 20 years experience in working with the telecommunications, travel, utilities and financial services sectors, with a track record of accomplishment in managing outsourcing customers, developing outsourcing solutions, managing large scale projects & multi-million dollar capital and operating budgets. Michelle has a consultative style with excellent skills and experience in relationship management with customers, suppliers and staff across the board.

Michelle’s strengths lie in having the ability to unravel complex issues, see the big picture, articulate and develop strategies to meet the underlying business needs.

Recent Experience Overview
  • Program Manager: Responsible for the program of work to migrate a New Zealand financial institution from a legacy X.25 environment onto a new IP service from a major telecommunication provider. This program included the development and establishment of new infrastructure to support the service, the deployment of new business tools and operation processes to enable the business to manage the new environment.

  • Project Director: Managed service and network transition within budget, on time and met key project deliverables in an ambitious project requiring three months of design, a 12 month national rollout program, four project teams comprising 50 people. Transitioned the network from X25 transport delivery to an IP transport network, including cabling infrastructure upgrades and voice service upgrades. Customer delighted with the minimal downtime and impact to the business units post cut-over

  • Managed Services Team Leader: Working in a bid situation led by a third-party as prime vendor. Michelle represented the sub-contractor providing global network services. The contract was to provide global telecommunication network management and global network services, including Mobile, WAN, RAS, Internet Voice and Conferencing network services and the management of these services.

          Michelle was accountable for:

·      Formulating the delivery model for the customer delivery team
·      Formulating Delivery Model Resource Plans
·      Developing the Service Management Solution
·      Developing the Network Management Framework
·      In scope employee selection for HR transition which was implemented with minimal variation and taken up by all of the            customers staff
  • Developed new capabilities with outsourcing services: Developed a new customer facing 2nd and 3rd level technical support capability, the centre enhanced customer intimacy by providing a single point of contact between the customer and its telecommunications outsourcing team.
